essence of dub / soul deep blues
Essence of dub was formed in 2006 to push thru dubstep artist that were for some strange reason not noticed for their music and contribution to the scene.
The vision from day one was to take dubstep out of its small community and spread the word with 30hz of sub bass and tribal drums. drum and bass was the chosen scene to push this sound.
Having packed out Herbal in March 2006 on a cold wednesday night hosting the upstairs room of essence of chi (big up keira). Ravers came from far and wide for this wednesday night of dubstep/ dnb joy. finland, leeds, new york, northampton, bristol, brighton and manchester. We continued to do bi monthly sessions with acts such as Elemental, Youngsta, Urban Collective, Hatcha, Atomique, Biome, Skream, Search & Destroy, Benga, 7even, Chefal, D'script, N Type, Scuba, Walsh & Slaughter Mob to name a few.
Things quickly moved upwards as we were asked to host rooms in the uk for promotors such as Valve, Renegade Hardware, Bassbin rec's, Breakin science, Movement.
Venues we have passed thru included Ministry of sound, The End, Bagleys (Canvas), Coronet, Herbal, The Annexe and Bar Rumba also branching out to Manchester, Bristol, Poland and Austria.
Having opened the drum and bass communities ears to dubstep (FACT!!!! ) we move on and never stop as we feel we are always the underdog and thats the way we like it.
now in 2008 we are starting the label essence of dub recordings to push thru more talent. Sister label Soul Deep Blues Recordings is for the more soulful side of dubstep while eod keeps u busy on the dancefloor.
forth coming material from nyabingi, gargamel, afterdark, stenchman, suspect, forsaken, alien pimp, arpex plus more in store for 2009
